Coincidence or An Invitation

You may be aware there are many people involved with an organization called Toastmasters, which provided them with an opportunity to hone their presentation skills and build confidence with public speaking.

A former client and friend of mine is a chapter leader and has invited me to get involved over the years, knowing it would be of value to me as a coach. I’ve thought about participating in the organization, but for one reason or another it wasn’t the right time.

This week, as I worked on my life map for 2012, I wrote “explore Toastmaster opportunities”. Tonight while working on my finances, with an eye toward the future, a woman comes to my door with a flier for a new Toastmasters group starting up two blocks from my house at a time I’m usually available. So I ask, coincidence or an invitation?

It reminds me of a message I saw on a church marquee “You were asking for a sign. Here it is!” When this happens to you do you recognize it as an opportunity or write it off as a coincidence? This is how the universe sends us messages. Sometimes they’re subtle, other times they hit us over the head. Open your eyes and ears to the signs that are all around you, and look for opportunities to follow the path toward your dream.  I know I will!

  1. Hi, I just read your post about Toastmasters. Believe it or not, but I thought ‘that’ was a sign. 🙂 I had been shying away from approaching Toastmasters, even though I’m good at public speaking and I thoroughly enjoy it. Ever since my friend introduced me to Toastmasters, I’ve always had it at the back of my mind but never got to the point that I really wanted to be part of it. So thanks for your inspirational post! Best of luck!

    1. Hi Razan –
First, Thank You for the follow! Its so supporting and validating when someone takes the time to comment on my post, even more so when they’re interested enough to want to follow my ramblings. I truly appreciate it. Now, as for ‘the sign’ 🙂 Over the years I’ve learned to make a mental note when a thought, idea, topic presents itself multiple times because there’s usually something for me to experience. It might not be the obvious, but I never know until I follow the path. I’ve made the commitment to attend at least one Toastmasters meeting before the end of the year, to see what it’s all about. What’s your next step? Whatever it is, watch for those signs 🙂
