Today is Thursday, August 32, 2011

I’m in denial.  Yes, I admit it.  I refuse to let it be the ninth month of this year.  Where is the time going?  School has started, the days are getting shorter.  All the signs that we are rapidly approaching the tail end of this year are starting to appear.  As the line of a popular song goes “…Time keeps on slipping into the future.”
We can’t stop time from marching forward, but we can take stock of the direction of our future and move forward with it.  Are you where you want to be?  If not, what’s holding you back?  Do you need help finding your dream?  Do you need encouragement or support?  You can only begin to get the answers by taking the first step.  You have to know what you want before you can go after it.  Then, you’ve got to do the work to get there.  And, you don’t have to do it alone, you can ask for help along the way.
I can hear you now saying “That’s easy for you to say but, ___________ (fill in your excuse here)!”  What’s your story?  You know, the auto-response you give whenever you or someone you know suggests breaking the mold and doing something new.  No time?  No support?  No money?  No job?  What have your excuses been doing for you?  Have they helped you move forward, or are they holding you back?  Believe me when I tell you, you CAN move forward despite your excuses.  All you have to do is take the first step and keep on marching forward.
What is your first step? Go ahead and commit to something today.  Want to go back to school?  Call the local community college for information.  Want a new job?  Contact a temp agency and make an appointment to speak with someone.  Then, take the daring step and TELL someone about it.  You’re more apt to actually do it if you have someone to be accountable to.  Feel free to leave a comment and let me know what action you’re going to take this week to march toward your dream!

Namaste~
