Voices? Are you hearing Voices?

About the time you start to strut your stuff, believing in living your dream life, here come the voices.  You know the ones.  It tells you what you can and can not do.  It questions your sanity, saying you don’t know what you’re talking about.  It shows up to throw a wet blanket on the party of your life.  Or does it?

That’s the voice of the Doubter speaking.  The voice that can keep you from moving toward your dreams.  You hear it saying “But what if…” or “I can’t …” casting doubt over your ultimate dream.  And probably like most of us, you react to the inner dialogue as if it were absolute.

Putting a whole lot of doubt into your dream is a sure-fire way to kill it. However, if you can harness and control the amount that infuses your thoughts, you will be rewarded with a wealth of information.  The Doubter’s job is to protect you, you see, so it’s not really meaning to do harm.  It just wants to be heard.  Sort of like a child, the voices will get louder and more repetitive when not acknowledged.

Your defense?  Stop and listen.  What is it really telling you?  Maybe its a warning, possibly its awareness of something missing.  The Doubter is shedding light on obstacles keeping you from your dreams.  Only when you’re aware of a situation can you claim it and do something about it.   When confronted with the Doubter, notice what you feel, how you respond.  You may have a pattern of behavior which could benefit from a little focused coaching.

Next time the voice of the Doubter comes to you, really listen to what its saying and learn the lesson its trying to teach.

Moving on through the recipe, next up: Failure.

Namaste~
